The Grand Canyon

There are miles and miles of desert around you. The sun is beating down on your face and neck. You can feel the heat with each step.  Why, you may ask, would I find this enjoyable? Because you are visiting America’s greatest natural landmark, the Grand Canyon!
The Grand Canyon, carved the Colorado River, is located in the state of Arizona. This great landmark is both inspiring and overwhelming. At a whopping 277 miles long and 18 miles wide, it is no wonder that it is one of the most popular sites to visit in the world. A trip to the Grand Canyon is like no other. Because it is rich with Native American culture and has a spectacular landscape, there are miles upon miles of exploration to do.
If you are the adventurous type, there is plenty to accomplish at the Grand Canyon.  Feel free to take a wild ride while rafting down the Colorado River. Travel by donkey into the depths of the Canyon and witness the array of wildlife and gorgeous views. Get your heart rate up and participate in the Grand Canyon Ultra Marathon, a 78 mile race, lasting over 24 hours. Experience the beauty of the Grand Canyon from the air by taking a helicopter tour.
If this sounds like a little too much adventure for you, don’t worry the Grand Canyon has a softer side, too. There are various lookout points located at each of the brims for the perfect family photo or simply to catch Mother Nature at her best. This natural attraction has sunrises and sunsets that are definitely worth witnessing. There are several shops, restaurants, and hotels that will make this vacation comfortable and enjoyable.  The Grand Canyon is stunning, and whether you prefer to experience it while hiking into its depths, or just admiring it from the brim, it is sure to take your breath away.

  1. I flew over the Grand Canyon once, and it was SWEET. I was flying from Phoenix to Salt Lake City, and all you could see was desert and then all of the sudden, BOOM!, a huge crack in the ground. It was pretty jaw-dropping. I wish I could have gone and actually hiked it or something. It's definitely on my to-do list!

  2. The Grand Canyon is definitely a tale of two types of tourists! It offers such potential for the adventurous traveler hoping to tackle mother nature, or the less active tourist simply trying to get in tune with the surroundings. I have never been, but I recognize the Grand Canyon as one of the natural wonders of the world.
